Ardmore is a town located in both in Delaware and Montgomery counties. The community of Ardmore is a suburb in the west side of Philadelphia, primarily within Lower Merion Township in Montgomery County. A smaller portion of the community is the area of Ardmore Park in adjacent Haverford Township in Delaware County.

Ardmore has more affordable housing options that other towns located along the Main Line and offers different styles of housing including condos, townhouses, twin homes, single homes and mansions.

Ardmore is a total of 1.9 miles and has a population ofapproximatly 12,616. Originally named Athensville in 1853, the community and its railroad station were renamed Ardmore in 1873 by the Pennsylvania Railroad, on whose "Main Line" west out of Philadelphia Ardmore sits.

Residents and visitors enjoy several recreation areas, including South Ardmore Park, which is located in Wynnewood, though many mistake it for Ardmore. Opened in 1928 as one of the earliest shopping centers in the United States, Suburban Square, is located adjacent to the Ardmore train station. It contains the nation's first suburban branch of a major department store, the former Strawbridge and Clothier which opened there in 1930. Now the "Square" is the home to Lilly Pulitzer Clothing; the newly relocated Ardmore Farmer's Market; an Apple Store, and the usual selection of mall shops, including a Ruby's Diner/Restaurant on Anderson Avenue.

Other landmarks within Ardmore include the Ardmore Ice Skating Club on Greenfield Avenue, a public swimming pool, lighted tennis/basketball courts,and a a community center.
